Giving Yourself A Break – Hassle Free UK Holidays

A Staycation in the UK is becoming a cheap and popular alternative to the drawn-out process required to ferry yourself and a family abroad. Although you have to play the usual roulette with the weather, this is far outweighed by the advantages. For starters, you have much less to worry about with money. For popular European and US destinations, the exchange rate on Sterling really isnt the great bargain that it used to be and so holidaying in those locations is no longer such good value. You also pay no exchange rates or fees, and there will never be a question of your plastic not working as any of your UK credit cards should be accepted and banks wont slap an additional fee for changing more currency.

Then there is the journey itself. Nearly anywhere in the UK is easily reached in only a few hours by a variety of transport methods, including your own car. International Air travel may once have been glamorous, but the budget airline experience these days is one of waiting in massive queues, distant gates, fighting to get on board planes for a seat next to your loved ones and adding hours onto the advertised flight time. Each leg of the trip is effectively a day out of your holiday and horribly stressful, even without kids.

If all goes wrong, you will seldom be stranded and fighting a travel company or airline for compensation. During the volcanic ash disruption this year, many found themselves preyed upon by hoteliers charging astronomical rates for extended stays, needing to apply for credit card extensions, having already reached their upper limit by putting the holiday on card originally. Tour operators are no longer safe either, several large companies reporting trouble and others folding completely, leaving holidaymakers stranded.

The UK has some exciting and fabulous places to see. Everything from beach holidays to mountain climbing, and there isnt much in the way of holiday activities that you cant enjoy at the fraction of the cost and effort right here on your own doorstep. Whether you like soaking up the south coast sun or marching up the Munros, theres plenty to give your credit card a quick trip to some of the UKs gorgeous locations.
