Here’s a quick guide to some of the many things you can do to create a luxury weekend in Windsor.

The town of Windsor proudly boasts tradition and culture, and on offer are some brilliant places to stay on your visit. St Cristopher Wren’s House Hotel has immaculate facilities, including a restaurant overlooking the Thames at Eton Bridge.

Also there are cottages available on the riverside, with views of the Windsor Wheel. Some of them come with complimentary rowing rafts if you’re feeling adventurous.

If you’re looking to really pamper yourself and have a weekend of unbridled luxury, consider travelling a few towns down to Bagshot. Pennyhill Park hotel is one of the most well reputed hotels in the area. If you feel like playing a spot of golf on a top golf course, or if you want to take advantage of their full spa facilities, then this is certainly the hotel for you.

Having decided on your accommodation, the next step is to consider what sorts of activities float your boat.

Windsor castle is of course one of the best known landmarks in the UK. There is a fantastic tour available around the Queen’s favourite weekend home, which allows you to find out all about the castle’s fascinating history.

You’ll find antiquated buildings in the shopping centre which house all sorts of high-end shops in this diverse and busy area. If you’re looking for anything from arts and crafts to glamorous clothing, Windsor has it all.

Just being around this town is a pleasure. It’s a city that has managed to maintain its identity throughout the years. This is in part due to the unique design of the town, but also the historical significance of local landmarks. One thing to note is that there are numerous cobbled stone floors and some very steep hills, so if you can bring yourself to wear sensible shoes in such a fashionable area, you are well advised to.

There’s loads to see in the surrounding area too if you’re looking to travel a little further afield.

Not far away is the Royal Ascot Racecourse, which always promises a great day out. People love getting dressed up and placing a few bets, enjoying a glass of champagne and spending a day with friends at this excellent venue.

In the evenings, there’s plenty to do. There are some truly fabulous restaurants in Windsor, and we found The River House to be one of them: excellent food is provided as well as a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. It’s right by the river so you can enjoy gazing out across the water whilst you eat.

Ultimately, if you’re really after a weekend of decadence then Windsor is the place for you. There are plenty of things to do and see and our only regret was that we didn’t stay for longer.
