If you didn’t know, an early 2010 merger has caused Midwest Airlines to be known as Frontier Airlines. But we will only write about Midwest because that is what our article is about. Midwest is a small airline that caters to leisure and business travelers and has fewer than 2400 employees. Milwaukee Wisconsin (and General Billy Mitchell Airfield) is its primary hub. Midwest airlines offers travelers nonstop trips to places in Costa Rica, Mexico and throughout the U.S. Vegas, LA, San Francisco, Phoenix, Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale are just a few of the cities serviced by the airline. There is much more to this company that you can learn.
After combining forces, Frontier and Midwest can boast a fleet of almost one hundred aircraft. Embraer and Airbus have contributed planes to the fleet that are made to suit the needs of the companies’ demands depending on the routes they offer. Obviously all of the rules and regulations set forth by the FAA are met. Each night the companies aircraft are put through the RON service checks. RON is an acronym for Remain Overnight and it is put together by a pre-imagined series of maintenance checks that has been determined by the FAA. This is just one part of all of the maintenance checks that the FAA requires. It is recommended that you just understand this, so grab a pair of lafont eyewear to help you actually zero in.
It’s not uncommon for these smaller carriers not to offer a first class section on their planes. There are of course many reasons for this which has prompted Midwest/Frontier to implement a unique program for those who absolutely must have the extra space. They call the program STRETCH and only apply it to the first four rows of the airplane. What that means overall in terms of seating ?pitch? is a grand total of three feet ? 36 inches, and personally we believe that should be enough for anyone.
Business professionals enjoy the unique corporate programs of both of these airlines. Frontier will ultimately absorb all of Midwest’s corporate programs with no loss of benefits already accrued. If your business travels more than thirty roundtrips per month you will benefit from this customized discount. You may be eligible for a corporate discount if you meet this and other criteria.
The program does not just benefit the company but also the traveler.
This merger will ultimately create a more robust medium sized regional carrier. The company, employees and the general public served by these airlines should be happy to be hearing this.
It isn’t always this easy to complete a merger without a huge burden on other carriers who would have to absorb the increase in travelers if one airline went away. It typically requires a tremendous logistical infrastructure to absorb this increase. This is why healthy merger like this one is most beneficial
